I feel bad that this post comes right after august foodie penpals, and that I’ve not written anything in between. I promise to do better this month, I swear! I know I’ve said it before, but there are some changes coming to EF.com. Big, noticeable changes!

Anyway, I digress.

This is my second month participating in The Lean Green Bean‘s monthly Foodie Penpals thingy. I gotta say, this month’s experience was a lot better than August! I was a little sad though, because the gal, Serena, that I was assigned to, only sent me an email in the beginning, to find out what I wanted. After that, I never heard from her. She never sent me an email to let me know she had shipped, or even to let me know when to expect it. I know this isn’t a requirement, but it would have been considerate. Also, perhaps if Lindsay from The Lean Green Bean reads this, maybe she’ll make it a requirement to pack more breakable things better. Twice now I’ve received beat up boxes with glass jars inside, and they weren’t wrapped or anything. They didn’t arrive broken, but I would be very sad if they were broken upon arrival.

Moving on!

My foodie box from Serena over on Utterly Sinful arrived, and it was filled with goodies and a note:

Hi Esther

Here is the foodie basket that I put together for you:

Dirty Chips: I LOVE the name and I love this flavor. Perfect with a tuna sandwich.

Button Candy: NEVER forget your childish nature.

Candy: So yummy! From one of my fav candy shops in Brewster which is the town I grew up in.

Horseradish mustard: I tried this the other day for the first time and went back to buy you some. Right now, I like to put it on a Ritz cracker with a slice of cheddar cheese. New snack!

Recipe Box: for fun!

Pasta: I love Italian food as well. I’m usually against anything instant, but this stuff isn’t half bad when you don’t have time to coon and you need to satisfy a craving.

Effie’s Crackers: Totally yum with some sort of creamy dip. I like spinach artichoke.

I hope you enjoy everything! Have a great day and thanks for letting me do this for you!!

I am really looking forward to trying the Cape Cod Gourmet Horseradish-n-Maple Mustard. It sounds amazing!

The gal that was assigned to me, Melissa, will be doing her reveal post as a guest post on my blog instead of her own. So look for that in a couple weeks.

Do you want to get a fun box of goodies and participate in Foodie Penpals, too? Here’s how:

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.

-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!

-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!

-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)

-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

-Foodie Penpals is open to US & Canadian residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.

If you’re interested in participating for September, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.

You must submit your information by October 4th as pairings will be emailed on October 5th!
